More than 50 Foundation of CKHA Donors and Volunteers Honoured

CHATHAM, ON (Friday, June 26, 2015): This past Wednesday night, the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) followed by its Annual Donor Appreciation Event at The Frank & Mary Uniac Auditorium (at CKHA’s Chatham Campus). This event was an evening to celebrate the generosity of Foundation of CKHA supporters and to recognize their contributions to local healthcare through the efforts of the Foundation of CKHA.

Donor Appreciation Event
Over 80 Foundation of CKHA supporters were in attendance to recognize the achievements of 45 donors who were honoured at the Donor Appreciation Event. Of the 45 donors, 29 are donors who have given more than $5,000 and the remaining are individuals and organizations who have achieved the next giving level through the Foundation of CKHA’s Donor Recognition Program, including two donors who reached the $1 million giving level – Wiet Peeters and Family and Frank and the late Mary Uniac.

John and the late Janet Cook were honoured for their legacy of giving at the event with a donor recognition storyboard. The storyboard, which highlights John and Janet’s contributions, including Janet’s work as a long-time Foundation of CKHA volunteer, will be permanently displayed at CKHA’s Chatham and Sydenham Campuses, starting in early July.

The family and friends of the late Karen Brodie were also honoured for their work through the CKHA Oncology Department Gift Basket Program which was co-founded by Karen and her good friend, Barb Lather in 2012. This program provides necessities for CKHA’s Oncology Patients, such as soft-bristle toothbrushes, head wraps, lotions, among many other items that are recommended for patients going through cancer treatments. To date, more than $30,000 has been raised for this program by Karen’s family and friends. A plaque in honour of this program will be hung in CKHA’s Oncology Department.

The final two awards handed-out at the event were the Janet Cook Outstanding Volunteer Award and the Outstanding Sponsor Award. Long-time Foundation of CKHA volunteers, Ric Haynes and Mark Spencer, were presented with Janet Cook Outstanding Volunteer Awards for their generous donation of time and talents. Mittons Jewelers Ltd. and Winmar were honoured with Outstanding Sponsor Awards for their generous contributions to Foundation of CKHA events through event sponsorship.
