Sunrise Rotary Launches “Roses for Rotary” Campaign

CHATHAM-KENT: Today, Chatham’s Rotary Sunrise Club launched it’s 6th Annual “Roses for Rotary…just because” campaign.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise hosts the “Roses for Rotary…just because” campaign to raise monies specifically for local healthcare needs. With this year’s Rotary International Theme designated as “Service Above Self”, what better way to launch the campaign than to present five lucky Chatham-Kent Health Alliance volunteers - who truly place ‘service above self’ – with a dozen roses each!

John Lawrence, President, Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise along with Sheila Bateman and Peter Roos,
Co-Chairs, presented CKHA inservice volunteers Lila Babcock, Marg Davis, Fran Banks, Linda Labadie and Foundation volunteer Barb Arsenault with the dozen long stem roses wrapped by Stan’s Flowers in Chatham.

Funds raised from this year’s Roses for Rotary campaign will be donated to the Every Life Counts Chatham-Kent Physician Recruitment Fundraising Campaign to help recruit 19 family physicians and nine specialists to Chatham-Kent.

Today’s Roses for Rotary launch brought in two special guests, Greg Hetherington and Dr. Peter MacKinnon, Co-Chairs of the current Every Life Counts Chatham-Kent Physician Recruitment Fundraising Campaign. As the Co-Chairs of the campaign designated as the recipient for the Roses for Rotary proceeds, each offered their appreciation to Rotary Sunrise and reiterated the importance of recruiting physicians to the Chatham-Kent area for present and future generations.

Rotary Sunrise President, John Lawrence stated, “With a goal of selling 1500 dozen roses, we would like to encourage people to extend gratitude or friendship, perhaps a hint of romance or a thank you with the red or multi-coloured roses for a job well done or …just because.”

The roses, wrapped and tagged, fresh from local rose growers in the Leamington area, can be purchased for $20 per dozen.
